Leaf chewing tobacco |
|
Most leaf chewing tobacco, in America, is made the same way, only the mix of tobaccos and the flavorings change between brands. Red Man starts with tobaccos that have been dried in drying barns, sometimes the same barns that have been painted with their logos. While their drying, smoldering fires are built inside the barns using either Oak or Hickory sawdust which permeates the tobacco and adds flavor. Once smoked and dried, the tobacco is placed in barrels with sweeteners like sugar, honey or molasses and water and allowed to ferment for up to two years so the flavors can marry. Once flavored, the chewing tobacco is allowed to dry and then packaged. |
