Barn ads |

Red Man chewing tobacco was introduced in 1904 by the Pinkerton Tobacco company and very quickly became the most popular brand of chewing tobacco in America. This was because of a massive advertising campaign that included painting barns with the Red Man Chewing tobacco logo all over the midwest and south. It was an ingenious marketing plan that not only benefited the tobacco company’s sales but, benefitted the farmer that owned the barn as well! The farmer would get paid a few dollars a month for the ad space but the biggest benefit was that each year, he got the barn painted for free! Ok, enough of the fun facts, back to the chewing tobacco. |
